Margaret Roberts, reconstruction #5 of Spatial Composition 2 by Katarzyna Kobro, at 100mm square instead of 500mm square, in perspex instead of painted metal, and in 2015 instead of 1928. Reconstruction #5 was first shown in the Third International Biennale of Non-Objective Art curated by Roland Orépük in Pont de Claix in 2015. It invites visitors to take the perspex apart to reflect Katarzyna's view that Sculpture is part of the space in which it is located. Sculpture enters space and space enters the sculpture (Katarzyna Kobro Europa (2) 1929: quoted by Malgorzata Kitowska-Lysiak 2004 in http://culture.pl/en/artist/katarzyna-kobro). Spatial Composition 2 was made by Katarzyna Kobro in 1928 in Poland, in black, white and grey-painted steel and 50cm x 50cm x 50cm and is held by Muzeum Sztuki, Lódz, Poland. Seven reconstructions of Katarzyna Kobro's 1928 Spatial Composition 2 were made in 2015, three of which were installed in Articulate project space's FERAL (#1, #2, #3), one in Airspace's Openings (#4) and five in the International Biennale of Non-Objective Art in Pont de Claix (#1, #4, #5, #6 and #7). An eighth is planned for Februry 2016 in ArticulateUpstairs. These reconstructions are: #8: drawn shapes 300cmx150cm, and 300cmx 300cm, in ash on white painted wall.
