Drawing the blind: drawing of Wladyslaw Strzeminski's 1926 painting, Architectural Composition #1, split by the building wall, 2024 (red and black yarn, tacks, found wall) in HANDLING, drawings by NAS Drawing staff, National Art School Drawing Gallery | Building 25, April 2 - 19, 2024. Photo the artist. The image above also shows the work of Luke Thurgate (left) and Evan Salmon (right).

I am thinking of 'drawing the blind' on the idea of images being windows to somewhere else, thinking of this work as a drawing that instead emphasises the presence here of the building and our bodies etc. I discuss this further here..

Its also a durational work by beginning as an idea realised as a painting nearly a century ago, and is now waiting for the wall to disappear so that (if the wall does not take the drawing with it), the two parts of the drawing can merge into the whole again sometime in the future.
