| Promise was part of Domain, a public art event presented by The
Australian National University, National Institute of the Arts, School
of Art as part of the National institute of the Arts/Department of Urban
Services Community Outreach program. It is an interactive game painted
onto a paved area in a 6 metre-diameter circle. Each of the eight shapes
is the same in a layout plan but different to viewers who see each shape
from a different angle. As viewers move, this angle changes. The faster
they move, the faster the pattern of shapes they see is reordered into
the same pattern. With sufficient speed, the pattern may appear constant
while the ground spins. |
